The History of Krone
In 1906, Bernhard Krone set up his own blacksmith workshop in Spelle, Germany. This was the beginning of the Krone Company as we know it today. It was Bernhard’s two oldest sons, Bernard and Heinrich, that expanded the blacksmith shop from shoeing horses to include the manufacturing of farm machinery. By the end of the 1920’s, they were manufacturing beet cutting discs, potato crushers, and straw cutters. Their goal was to create labor saving machines to ease the workload for local farmers. This goal has not changed much over the four generations that the Krone family has been running their family business. Now, Krone has a specialized focus in manufacturing hay and forage equipment that is the highest quality and the most efficient on the market.
Krone North America first opened their offices in the United States in 1973. They were very successful in selling their large machinery because it was well suited for the large farms of the mid-west. Also, several thousand turbo mowers and rotary tillers were sold during this time. Over the years, Krone North America has grown to be the largest single export market for Krone machinery and has grown to over 350 dealerships. There are now offices in Memphis, TN and Reno, NV and warehouses in Memphis, Reno, Ontario, and Quebec.
